Overview

A longer, warm-weather stay with a checkup, rehabilitation and TCM therapies.

Hainan is China's tropical island province, warm when the rest of the country is cold. This route is built for a longer, slower stay: a full checkup in the first days, then a programme of rehabilitation and TCM therapies, with plenty of time on the beach.

It ends with a written health-management plan and remote follow-up, so the benefits continue after you fly home.

This route is ideal for

  • Retirees escaping a northern winter
  • Travellers aged 50+ who want a checkup plus a structured recovery or rehab programme
  • People with chronic back, joint or post-surgical issues who want supervised physiotherapy
  • Patients interested in therapies available at Boao Lecheng (see the FAQ below)

FAQ

Hainan checkup tour — answered.

What is special about Boao Lecheng?
It is a national pilot zone where, under a special approval scheme, hospitals can use certain drugs and medical devices that are approved overseas but not yet in mainland China. Eligibility is case-by-case and requires a physician's assessment — it is not part of the default itinerary.
Can I stay longer than 10 days?
Yes. Many retirees stay 2–4 weeks in winter. We can extend the therapy programme and add remote follow-up after you go home.
Do I have to do the endoscopy?
No. It is included in the default tier because it is commonly recommended over 50, but you can drop it and move to a lower tier.
Will my results be ready before I fly home?
Most lab, ECG, ultrasound and imaging results are ready within the trip, which is why every itinerary schedules the checkup early and the results consultation near the end. Biopsy pathology or genetic tests can take longer; those reports are emailed and reviewed by video call.
How much does a checkup tour cost?
The checkup is priced by tier (see the tier pricing on our health checkup guide); travel, hotels and guides depend on dates and comfort level. Send us your dates and we'll reply with an itemised quote.
Can I change the itinerary or the checkup tier?
Yes. Every route is a template. You can upgrade or downgrade the checkup tier, add days, or combine two routes — for example Beijing + Xi'an, or Shanghai + Hangzhou.
What visa do I need?
That depends on your nationality and how long you stay. Many travellers now qualify for visa-free entry or transit; check our visa guide or ask your coordinator before booking flights.
Is there an English-speaking coordinator?
Yes. A coordinator handles hospital registration, accompanies you on checkup day, translates during consultations and arranges transfers.
What if the checkup finds something?
The physician explains the finding and what it means. If further tests or treatment are needed, we can arrange them in China during your trip, or prepare an English summary for your doctor at home.
