Overview

A premium longevity-oriented checkup, metabolic and weight programmes, and hot-spring retreats.

Guangzhou is the heart of Lingnan (southern Chinese) culture, with a tradition of food as medicine and some of China's largest TCM hospitals. This route is the most in-depth on the list: an Ultra-Premium checkup focused on long-term risk, followed by a personalised health-management and weight programme.

The second half of the trip is a retreat — hot springs and forest walks — while the coordinator finalises your 12-month plan.

This route is ideal for

  • Travellers who want an in-depth, longevity-focused baseline
  • People who want a medically supervised weight-management plan
  • Travellers who value privacy, premium hotels and personal coordinators
  • Hong Kong and Macau visitors adding a short mainland trip

Checkup day

A typical morning

07:30Meet your coordinator at the hotel or hospital; registration and ID check (bring your passport).
08:00Fasting tests first: blood draw, urine sample, abdominal ultrasound.
09:00Imaging (CT/MRI) and cardiac tests; breakfast once fasting tests are done.
10:30Specialist exams — eye, ENT, dental, gynaecology or urology as relevant.
12:00Most physicals finish by lunchtime. Sedated endoscopy needs an extra hour or two of recovery.

Preparation

Before the checkup

  • Fast for 8–12 hours before the checkup (small sips of water are usually allowed — your coordinator will confirm).
  • Avoid alcohol and heavy, fatty meals for 2–3 days beforehand.
  • Bring your passport, a list of current medications and any previous reports or imaging.
  • Take essential medication (e.g. blood pressure) as advised; diabetes medication is usually adjusted for fasting — ask first.
  • Wear comfortable clothes without metal; leave jewellery at the hotel for MRI.
  • Women: avoid scheduling during your period if gynaecological or urine tests are included.

Travel

What you’ll see

Half day

Chen Clan Ancestral Hall & Shamian Island

A richly carved Lingnan-style ancestral hall, and the tree-lined colonial-era streets of Shamian Island on the Pearl River.

Tip: Combine with a dim sum lunch in Xiguan, the old western district.

Morning + evening

Cantonese dim sum & Pearl River cruise

Morning tea (早茶) is a Guangzhou institution; by night, a river cruise passes the illuminated Canton Tower.

Tip: Book a private room at a classic teahouse for a quieter experience.

1–2 nights

Conghua or Zengcheng hot springs

Hot-spring resorts in Guangzhou's northern districts, about 1–1.5 hours from the centre.

Tip: Ask the physician before using hot springs if you have heart conditions or low blood pressure.

1 day

Nankun Mountain

A forested mountain reserve in Longmen County (Huizhou), about 2 hours from Guangzhou, with streams and walking trails.

Practical tips

Before you go

  • Guangzhou is less than an hour from Hong Kong by high-speed rail, so this route works well as an add-on to a Hong Kong trip.
  • Whole-body MRI and coronary CTA are booked in advance — confirm your dates early.
  • Remove metal jewellery and bring a list of implants before any MRI.

FAQ

Guangzhou checkup tour — answered.

Is this an "anti-ageing" treatment?
No. It is an in-depth screening and risk-reduction programme — the aim is to find modifiable risks early and give you a concrete plan. We don't sell unproven anti-ageing therapies.
Can I start GLP-1 weight-loss medication here?
Only if a physician decides it is clinically appropriate after your assessment, and only with a plan for continuing care at home. See our weight-loss guide for details.
Is whole-body MRI worth it?
It can find problems early, but it also finds harmless incidental findings. Your physician explains both before you decide.
Will my results be ready before I fly home?
Most lab, ECG, ultrasound and imaging results are ready within the trip, which is why every itinerary schedules the checkup early and the results consultation near the end. Biopsy pathology or genetic tests can take longer; those reports are emailed and reviewed by video call.
How much does a checkup tour cost?
The checkup is priced by tier (see the tier pricing on our health checkup guide); travel, hotels and guides depend on dates and comfort level. Send us your dates and we'll reply with an itemised quote.
Can I change the itinerary or the checkup tier?
Yes. Every route is a template. You can upgrade or downgrade the checkup tier, add days, or combine two routes — for example Beijing + Xi'an, or Shanghai + Hangzhou.
What visa do I need?
That depends on your nationality and how long you stay. Many travellers now qualify for visa-free entry or transit; check our visa guide or ask your coordinator before booking flights.
Is there an English-speaking coordinator?
Yes. A coordinator handles hospital registration, accompanies you on checkup day, translates during consultations and arranges transfers.
What if the checkup finds something?
The physician explains the finding and what it means. If further tests or treatment are needed, we can arrange them in China during your trip, or prepare an English summary for your doctor at home.
