FAQ
About the calculator.
- How accurate is the calculator?
- Within ±15% for most procedures. Estimates are based on partner-hospital pricing and published industry data 2024–2025. Final cost depends on patient complexity (BMI, comorbidities, prior surgeries), implant brand selection, length of stay, and protocol-specific variables. Always request a written itemized quote before booking.
- What's included in the all-in estimate?
- Procedure fee, hospitalization, anaesthesia, standard implant (international or domestic depending on tier), inpatient physiotherapy initiation, on-site accommodation, English-speaking coordinator, interpreter coverage, and 12-month telehealth follow-up. Excluded: international airfare, M-visa application fees, optional add-on diagnostics, and post-discharge home-country care.
- Why is Beijing/Shanghai pricing higher than Chengdu?
- Tier-1 city facility costs (rent, staff salaries, equipment amortisation) are 15–25% higher than regional Class A hospitals. Hotel and accommodation are also 25–30% higher. The trade-off: tier-1 hospitals (PUMC, Ruijin, Fudan) have national-flagship reputation, deepest specialty depth, and strongest English support; regional centres (West China Hospital, Sichuan Cancer) offer comparable Class A quality at lower cost.
- What's the difference between value, premium and ultra-premium tier?
- Value tier: Class A standard ward — comparable clinical quality, shared room, basic English coordination. Premium tier: top Class A with dedicated International Medical Department, single-bed room, English-speaking coordinator throughout. Ultra-premium tier: JCI / VIP / Western-style hospital (Beijing United Family, Shanghai United Family, HKU-Shenzhen) — fully Western-style workflow, English-default service, premium accommodation.
- Should I add the coordinator package?
- Strongly recommended for international patients. Standard package ($2,400) covers hospital matching across 2–3 options, M-visa invitation letter, full interpreter coverage, accommodation booking, ground transfer, and 12-month telehealth follow-up. Without coordination, you'll spend significant time navigating Chinese hospital workflows in Mandarin — and lose the cross-hospital comparison advantage.
- Does the calculator include insurance?
- No — insurance varies by provider and pre-authorization status. We assume out-of-pocket payment. If you have global health insurance (Cigna Global, Bupa Global, GeoBlue), some procedures may be covered with pre-authorization at accredited Chinese hospitals — see our insurance guide for details.
