FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How does GCC government-sponsored medical referral work to China?
Several GCC governments operate international referral programs that historically focused on US, UK, Germany, Switzerland but have expanded to include China for specific high-acuity indications (oncology, complex cardiac, pediatric subspecialty, regenerative medicine where it's available). Examples: Saudi Ministry of Health Foreign Treatment, UAE Ministry of Health, Kuwait Health Office. We work with sponsoring-entity case managers to coordinate hospital placement, government-referral paperwork, and bilingual reporting back to the originating ministry.
Do I need an M-visa as a GCC citizen?
Yes — for inpatient or surgical care in mainland China, GCC citizens require an M (medical) visa. Apply via Chinese embassy / consulate in your country (Riyadh, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, Kuwait, Manama, Muscat). UAE-China have specific bilateral arrangements that ease processing. Standard processing 4–7 business days; family / sponsor visas can be issued same package. We provide hospital invitation letter and support documentation.
What about flight options from the GCC?
Extensive direct connectivity: DXB ↔ PEK / PVG / CAN / HKG (Emirates, Air China, Cathay Pacific); AUH ↔ PEK / PVG / HKG (Etihad, Air China, Cathay); DOH ↔ PEK / PVG / HKG (Qatar Airways, Cathay); RUH / JED ↔ PEK / PVG (Saudia, Air China); KWI ↔ PEK (occasional Air China); BAH ↔ HKG (Cathay). Typical 7–9 hours direct. Major Gulf carriers offer wheelchair, medical-passenger and stretcher services on request — book 14+ days ahead.
Will my GCC insurance / sponsor cover treatment in China?
Government-sponsored programs (Saudi MoH, UAE MoH, Kuwait Health Office) typically have approved provider networks and pre-authorisation requirements. Private GCC insurance: Daman, AXA Gulf, MetLife Gulf, AIG MENA — varies by policy; international expat tier usually covers China. We provide bilingual itemized receipts in any required format (Saudi MoH Daleel-MOH-aligned, UAE PHCC-aligned, Kuwait MoH-aligned).
What about Arabic-speaking coordination and halal accommodation?
Arabic-speaking medical coordinators are available on request at PUMC, Beijing Tongren, Beijing United Family, Beijing PLA General (301), Shanghai United Family. Halal catering available at international medical departments and partner hotels (Beijing Wangfujing area, Shanghai Pudong / Bund). Prayer accommodation at hospitals and partner hotels. Family accompaniment is encouraged and supported.
What about Ramadan and religious considerations?
We coordinate scheduling around Ramadan — non-urgent diagnostic and surgical procedures can be timed before, after or during Ramadan with Iftar / Suhoor accommodation. Urgent oncology, cardiac and trauma care continues during Ramadan with religious accommodation as feasible. Female patients can request female physicians and same-sex nursing where this matters culturally; international medical departments are accustomed to GCC patient family preferences and accommodate them as standard.
