Frequently asked
Plain-language answers about menopause symptoms, this screener, and what evaluation costs at a Class A hospital in China.
- Is HRT safe?
- For most women within 10 years of menopause and under age 60, modern HRT (including transdermal estradiol) has a favourable risk/benefit profile per the latest international consensus statements. Personal history (breast cancer, thrombosis) materially changes the calculation.
- What does menopause care cost in China?
- An OB-GYN consult plus baseline FSH, estradiol, lipid, and bone density screen at a Class A international department is typically $200–340. HRT medications are available at substantially lower cost than US/EU equivalents.
- Is TCM evidence-based for menopause?
- Yes for some applications. Several Chinese herbal formulas (Kun Bao Wan, Geng Nian An) and acupuncture have RCT-level evidence for hot flushes — typically more modest than HRT, but useful for women who cannot or prefer not to take HRT.
