Frequently asked

Plain-language answers about diabetes risk, this screener, and what evaluation costs at a Class A hospital in China.

What is the FINDRISC score?
Finnish Diabetes Risk Score — a validated 8-item tool predicting risk of developing type 2 diabetes within 10 years. Scores are categorised low (<7), slightly elevated (7–11), moderate (12–14), high (15–20), very high (≥21).
How accurate is FINDRISC?
AUC ~0.85 for predicting 10-year T2DM in European cohorts. Performance is somewhat lower in non-European populations but it remains a useful triage tool worldwide.
What's the workup if I score high?
Standard workup is HbA1c + fasting glucose + lipid panel + liver enzymes. At a Class A endocrinology department in China this typically costs $40–80 for the bloodwork plus $50–90 for the consult.
