Q&A · Hip replacement

Which approach is best — anterior, posterior, or lateral?

← All questions

All three deliver excellent long-term outcomes. Direct anterior is muscle-sparing with faster early recovery; posterior is the most common globally with strong long-term data; lateral is well-established for surgeon preference. Choice is best made by the operating surgeon based on your anatomy and goals.
