Frequently asked

Are international-brand implants used in China?
Yes. Zimmer, Stryker, DePuy, Smith & Nephew implants are routinely used at Class A international departments. Domestic-brand implants are also approved and substantially cheaper if cost-prioritised.
Tier-1 vs tier-2 city for joint replacement?
For routine total joint arthroplasty, tier-2 academic Class A centres (West China, Sir Run Run Shaw) deliver outcomes comparable to tier-1 (PKU Third, PUMC) at 15–25% lower price. Tier-1 access matters more for complex revision, severe deformity, or simultaneous bilateral arthroplasty.
Can I get spine surgery as an international patient?
Yes. Microdiscectomy, lumbar fusion, and complex deformity surgery are all available at Class A spine programmes. Cervical and lumbar pathology are commonly treated; recovery and discharge planning are international-patient-aware.
